Maison Causse

Founded in 1892, Causse is the oldest of Millau’s great glovemakers and is recognized as a living heritage company (Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant) for the excellence of their traditional know-how.

Sublime in its wooden manufactory signed Jean Michel Wilmotte, Causse is the last remaining glovemaker to abide by the rules of art but is very turned towards the future and committed to passing on its traditional skills. Their unique expertise and quality materials have not gone unseen and today, Causse supplies the most prestigious fashion houses: Hermès, Vuitton and Chanel (owner of the manufactory and guardian of their savoir-faire).

Discover at its source from De Toujours, the exceptional know-how of this noble house, guaranteeing the highest comfort, elegance and durability.

MAISON CAUSSE

Riding gloves in nubuck lambskin. Unlined/saddle-stitched in the main colour. Handmade. To guarantee an excellent fit, our gloves are made in the workshops of the Maison Causse according to traditional methods going back to 1892. Only skins of very high quality, treated exclusively for use in the making of gloves and shaped by our expert glove makers will give it the ideal fit to last a lifetime.

Lambskin has suppleness and finesse alike a second skin on the hand and is exceptionally comfortable. Most often treated with glacé or nubuck finishes on the “grain side”, it can also be finished to give a metallic or patent look.  The velvet finish is obtained on the “flesh side” of the skin. The smooth and even texture of the lambskin gives it a touch of luxury. Your gloves will be delivered with their own branded case.

GLOVES

To measure the size of your hand, apply the centimeter to the top of your hand, holding it with your thumb and covering the ounces.

Go around your hand with the centimeter, taking the inside of the palm without taking the thumb.

Close the hand and take the measurement without squeezing to the maximum. Transfer the measurement to the conversion chart below to find out your glove size.

cm 17,5 19 20 21,5 23 24 25,5 27
size 6,5 7 7,5 8 8,5 9 9,5 10

When you first try on the glove, it should fit your hand as closely as possible, so that it will be as comfortable as possible after a few hours of use.

Worship side

Naturally, the Saumur riding gloves are extremely solid and resistant as they were designed for repeated use in horseback riding and training which requires endurance from both the rider and his/her equipment.

But casually placed on a table, doesn’t this glove remind you of a mysterious marquis who came for a visit? Doesn’t the subtle bias cut, with straight edges so typical of riding gear, evoke the perfume of an English lady galloping towards the hunting lodge?

The exceptional expertise of Causse in the manufacture of sports gloves does not need to be proven as it has attracted the most prestigious fashion houses as clients, Hermès and Chanel for instance. Chanel is now the lucky owner of the Causse workshops, striving to preserve the expertise and living cultural heritage of traditional glove making.

Equestrian wear has always been a recurring theme in fashion and these nubuck gloves are one of its most luxurious references and a typical aristocratic tic. The incredible class that this glove gives to its wearer should absolutely be adopted beyond the stables and in the city, as it is also perfectly suited for holding a motorcycle handle or a subway bar.
